About this event

North-East Hants and Surrey Maths Hub are running a FREE Work Group for teachers of Maths GCSE resit.

The Work Group will explore effective ways of teaching key content to GCSE resit students and effective ways of working with teachers of post-16 resit GCSE in the context of Covid recovery. Participants will, through collaboration and experimentation, deepen their knowledge and understanding of the curriculum demands of GCSE Maths and their awareness of pedagogical approaches that best support students taking GCSE for the second time. Participants' departments will, through shared good practice, become more effective at teaching GCSE resit, for example by wider and more confident use of teaching approaches such as bar modelling, multiplicative reasoning or realistic contextualisation.

The programme will consist of 1 face to face and 3 online (via Zoom) sessions

Session 1 Tuesday 18th January 2- 5pm ONLINE

Session 2 Tuesday 22nd February 3:30 to 5:00pm online

Session 3 Tuesday 29th March 3:30 to 5:00pm online

Session 4 Tuesday 10th May 3:30 to 5:00pm online

Session 5 Tuesday 21st June 2- 5pm at Glyn School, The Kingsway, Ewell, Epsom KT17 1NB

Participants are expected to attend all sessions and to complete intersessional tasks.

All registrants will be required to join an NCETM Basecamp online community for this Work Group in order to access resources and information. Please ensure you tick the box to confirm this when you register.

As with all our Free or Funded Maths Hub Work Groups and programmes, we are funded by the Department for Education and therefore prioritise State Funded schools.
